Fishing may not be the most conventional cozy game and it’s likely not a popular subset in the genre. However, you can not deny that it has the capability to be relaxing.
If you’re on the fence about whether you want to try fishing games, here are 3 that are coming up that may get you to dip your toes (and your fishing pole) into the water.

Captain Pawsome

Set sail with Captain Pawsome and unleash your inner adventurer! You’ll sail across the ocean fishing up unique fish, cleaning the environment, and finding resources to upgrade your ship!
In Captain Pawsome, you’ll open a shop to sell the treasures you’ve fished from the deep. And with the ability to customize your character and upgrade your gear, you will sail in style and comfort!
One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish…
If you’re aware of Dredge, then you may find something familiar in Captain Pawsome. Just, ya know, minus the eldritch god. There’s something about fishing to upgrade that links these two in my mind.
It looks like a charming little fishing game and I’m pretty excited to climb aboard my own ship and play as Captain Pawsome.
The release date hasn’t been announced, but you can jump in and get your feet wet by downloading the demo for Captain Pawsome and trying it out for yourself!
Fish Game

A Shell in the Pit Games and Creative Ink Games bring us a very “sofishticated” game aptly named Fish Game. If fishing up things with Captain Pawsome isn’t for you, then this aquarium simulator just might be!
Fish Game brings you the ultimate experience in owning an aquarium. Not only do the fish have unique personalities and behaviors, but you need to maintain the environment of your tank to keep your fish happy.
You’ll have complete control of your tanks. In Fish Game you decide what items go in, what fish exist together, and what plants live inside your tank. It’s so customizable that you can even build up the substrate however you please with sandbox mechanics.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming…
If you want the full experience, you can be responsible for everything that goes on in your tank. There are chemical levels to monitor, plants that need specific lighting, and tanks to keep clean.
But if that’s not your speed, that’s okay! Fish Game has added a passive-play mode to take care of cleaning and maintenance for you!

Professional Fishing 2

MasterCode and Ultimate Games bring us Professional Fishing 2. If the aquarium life of Fish Game isn’t for you, then climb into the world of Professional Fishing 2.
When someone says, “fishing game”, this is the type of game that always comes to mind. It’s a timeless classic and while I’m not well-versed, I think there’s something unique here.
You start humbly with a basic rod and bread for bait. But, as you catch fish, you’ll earn more money and more points that go toward your ranking. Professional Fishing 2 offers several quests, locations, and fishing techniques to keep the game fresh.
An oldie, but a goodie in the fishing game world
Choose between first or third-person and experience Professional Fishing 2 the way that makes you happy. And if you’re lonely, you can meet others to hang out with, organize challenges and competitions, or join clubs to fish with others.
I think there’s a lot of fun and relaxation to fish out of this game, so I’ll be keeping an eye on it. There’s no date set for release, but you can try the demo for Professional Fishing 2 over on Steam!
While there are a ton of fishing games out there, keep an eye out for these three in the near future.
