Once in a while, we glance over at Kickstarter and other crowdfunding apps to see what might tickle our fancy in the cozy gaming side of the market. Right now, two that need to be crowdfunded caught our eye: Cinnabunny and Time is Honey.
Well on its way to being crowdfunded: Cinnabunny
At first, Cinnabunny may look a little basic as a game. But, upon further inspection, this bunny-based baking game is way more than it first seems. While it isn’t necessarily a sequel, the developers Reky Studios also put out the game Bunhouse a few years back.
You play as a baker that happens to be a bunny. Like other simulation games, Cinnabunny tasks you with foraging for ingredients, completing tasks for NPCs, and learning new recipes. It also allows you to decorate your bakery, which also doubles up as your home. This is all not unlike the upcoming high fantasy world of Merchants of Rosewall.
However, Cinnabunny also offers a little more freedom for exploration. There is a whole birdwatching part of the game, complete with 30 true-to-reality birds to find, similar to Alba: A Wildlife Adventure. Exploration also has a ton of easter eggs, collectibles, and more.
The game also partnered with the non-profit For Goodness Cakes, which bakes birthday cakes for foster kids and is giving a portion of proceeds over there. Developers who partner with charities and non-profits always get me.
They’re looking to start off with a Steam PC version, which is currently estimated for March 2025. But, the devs also want to do console ports as stretch goals.
Right now, the Kickstarter for Cinnabunny is not yet quite fully baked. But, it’s pretty close to hitting its $17,200 goal. The campaign is still fresh and doughy, though. It’s worth checking out what’s in the oven and getting this crowdfunded. It’s only $20 to get the base game.
Might not get the numbers without your help: Time is Honey
If you’re a fan of idle games, Time is Honey might be up your alley. This project, unfortunately, definitely needs your help to get funded. While they only need $5,000 to be crowdfunded, Time is Honey is still sitting under $1,000 with 3 days left.
However, Time is Honey is adorable. Earn 150+ bees for your customizable hive through bee booster packs. Place stickers all over your beehive. Feed your bees to get more honey, level them up from baby bees, and buy more bees. Cross your fingers and hope that you get a golden bee with special golden boosts. Rinse and repeat.
If you’re looking for a deep game, this isn’t it. However, if you’re looking for a silly, fun, cute time waster, this game still needs to be crowdfunded.
The minimum to get yourself a copy of the game is $10. For what the game is, that might seem steep. But, that not only supports the devs but also gets your name in the credits.
Both games are available on Kickstarter right this moment. Additionally, both games, Cinnabunny and Time is Honey, are also available on Steam to wishlist. Time for Honey takes it a step further with a fully playable demo as well!
