You can totally get lost in The Sims, but ever since The Sims 4, Electronic Arts doesn’t really seem to care for the IP as much as they used to. Now, though, a new kid is coming to town with InZOI.
This Sims-like life simulator developed by Krafton looks to be taking cues from EA’s long-running series. During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Krafton’s InZOI made a landmark appearance with a gameplay trailer and a reminder that its character studio is open for business.
The trailer showcased a lot of what people hoped for with this game and also a flaw that many fear — performance. This game is very clearly going to be a slog for many PCs based on footage we have seen.
Sul sul, InZOI
This newest trailer shows promise in what it could bring to the table of the genre. Basically, it looks like a more advanced Sims that isn’t held back by a cartoony look.
InZOI still lacks a proper release date, but there is hope that it’s going to fare better than others that have tried to compete with the EA-backed juggernaut. Not only is it backed by another major developer, with Krafton known for PUBG, it’s also not rushing to get it out there.
Since it’s not rushing, it may stop itself from being just like Life by You. That game had it bad, rife with delays that eventually led to Paradox canning the game altogether and the studio closing.
With InZOI, Krafton is taking their time to really let players get a feel for what’s to come and with that trailer came the announcement of the Character Studio. For a limited time, the South Korean dev will give people a week-long glimpse into the character creator side of it.
Considering The Sims is typically seen as “peak” when it comes to life simulators, it could use some competition to really push ideas forward. This competition is especially welcomed as The Sims 5 looms above.
