Editor’s update: MySims Cozy Bundle was confirmed during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase on August 27th, 2024 to be coming out on November 19th, 2024. It will include the original MySims and MySims Kingdoms in a single bundle.
Original story:
The Sims spin-off, MySims, appears to be making a triumphant return after over a decade of neglect. The rumored return comes in the form of a remaster of the cult spin-off from 2007 on the Nintendo Switch.
Users on ResetEra spotted some listings that were still up by the time of writing. With just the line “build a city and unlock fun locations” tied to it, we’re kind of in the dark about how in-depth this remaster will be.
Allegedly, it’s supposed to be releasing in November, so if this is true, EA better make an announcement soon. If they don’t, the game could be trapped in a vacuum of just those who know of the original 2007 game.
MySims, your Sims
MySims heading to modern hardware is no doubt exciting for those lingering fans of the series. While ResetEra users spotted this, it’s now being corroborated by Kotaku from the same source. They couldn’t give specifics, but that certainly gives a little more fuel to this fire.
This spin-off wasn’t just a one-off release, either, it had a ton of different sequels to The Sims spin-off like MySims: Kingdom, MySims: Racing, MySims: SkyHeroes, and more. Obviously, this is testing the waters. EA may want to bring this series back if it does well in order to capture a new audience.
If this remaster is successful, it’s likely EA will shove out more remasters of the line and potentially introduce a new game from the series. It is notably the only indicator that EA is bringing its life simulator series to the Switch.
The Sims 5 is obviously in development. But, of course, it can’t rely exclusively on The Sims 4 to keep the broader IP relevant, especially with new competition like InZOI looming overhead. Additionally, it just makes sense to bring the Nintendo hardware series to modern Nintendo hardware.
