Nintendo recently announced that the long-running mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, would be finally coming to an end. But, they also offered an olive branch by announcing that a stand-alone, one-time purchase Pocket Camp Complete would be taking its place.
Late on Sunday, Nintendo dropped a giant, 12-minute video on their YouTube detailing their plans. Officially, the live service Pocket Camp mobile game will come to an official end on November 28th, 2024 at 3:00 PM UTC (11 AM ET).
For those of us who have been playing Animal Crossing Pocket Camp for years, you can make a one-time purchase of the new Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Complete, starting on December 3rd, 2024. It’ll have an introductory price of $9.99 in the UJSA until January 31st, 2025. Afterward, the game will be $19.99 going forward.
You’ll be able to transfer your data from the live service version to Pocket Camp Complete, using your Nintendo account. It’ll work similarly as if you were just redownloading the older game. But, there is an expiration date. Your layouts, items, and clothing will all transfer.
Additionally, the game will come with new features and functionality, considering that they’re removing the microtransactions and additional live service features. Leaf Tickets will not be transferred, as the Pocket Camp Club will end. Leaf Tokens will replace the old Tickets and some of the Club events will now just be part of the new game.
According to the video, seasonal events will still happen within the game at roughly the same pace as the previous iteration. So, it’s worth picking back up as a great single-player game.
A new feature is something called Camper Cards, which look so much like old Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards, but they’re entirely digital and focused on the Camper themself. Once you make one, it’ll also give a QR code for you to trade with friends.
Whistle Pass is a new area where you can see Campers whom you’ve traded Camper Cards with. You can enjoy a KK Slider concert and hang out. If you log in and have V6.0.0 (the newest version) installed, you’ll be able to keep and transfer any friends who also have the same version installed and log in during this period. They’ll be in your Complete version, even if it’s entirely offline.
One thing that the video notes is that brand-new events and items will continue appearing until September 2025, but the events will rotate on a 4-year cycle.
