Critter Cafe debuts today for PC and console gamers alike! You can find this new hybrid of creature raising and cafe management on Steam and Nintendo Switch.
I don’t have the game (yet), so I can’t report on functionality. But, from watching the trailer and looking at the press release, Critter Cafe looks like an interesting little blend of game inspirations.
If you enjoyed games like Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Cat Cafe Manager, or even Little Friends: Puppy Island, then you’re going to find things to love about Critter Cafe.
Visually, the art style runs more in line with chibi anime designs and I’m here for it. Also, I need to get my hands on every single critter, because — oh my god — this game is full of silly little guys.
Critter Cafe brings a blend of zen gameplay with managing your cafe and adventure with exploring portals to “Otherlands” where your critters reside.
Let’s talk about the cafe function and then we’ll get into the mystery of the critters.
Not only will you be able to customize your own avatar, but you’ll have a ton of options with furniture and decorations to make the cafe of your dreams. You’ll even be able to customize habitats for your critters!
In your cafe, you’ll have the chance to serve coffee, deliver cakes, and even perfect latte art. From looking at the trailers, it looks like running your cafe will introduce interactive qualities like cutting a slice from the whole cake or filling the glass to just the right level.
Customers will flock to your cafe not only for the good food but, also, for the cozy atmosphere made even better by the addition of critters!
It’s essentially an animal cafe, but instead of having cats or dogs, you’re hosting special, unique critters! There are 35 to collect and you have access to all of them if you’re brave enough to jump through a portal.
You’ll receive mysterious letters informing you of portals opening up all around Gold Leaf Isle, where you’ve set your cafe up. Finding these portals allows you access to a place called Otherlands. Within this realm, you’ll have to navigate puzzles in order to find your critters.
Once you’ve guided your new friends back to the portal, you can add them to your cafe! Not only do they make your cafe livelier, but you can take care of them too! You’ll be able to play with them, brush them, feed them, and even give them baths.
As you take care of them and they become involved in cafe activities, they’ll start bonding and developing new traits and even new looks!
I find a lot to love about Critter Cafe just from the outside looking in. So, I’m excited about getting my hands on the game soon to try it out for myself.
If you’re ready to start your own cafe, you can grab the game today from Steam or Nintendo Switch for $19.99. For a limited time, they have a 10% off sale on Steam only that will make the game $17.99 as of posting.
