Indoor gardening is a nice and easy way to brighten up your environment — in theory. Many have tried, only to bury a houseplant or twelve. But Greenheart Necromancer, the upcoming new game from Silverstring Media, gives power to the black-thumb hopeless gardeners of the world and offers a failure-free opportunity to grow your perfect balcony oasis. Use magical spells and potions alongside traditional gardening techniques to protect plants from pests, help them thrive, and even raise plants from the dead!
Greenheart Necromancer was announced today with a trailer and Steam store page.
A narratively and mechanically rich idle game meant to be played over long periods of time, Greenheart Necromancer accompanies the player’s work day and rewards their attention with short bursts of gameplay that punctuate stretches of pure vibes. Players will raise quirky plants, attract mystical ghost bees, expand their necromantic powers, and cultivate their garden through regular care tasks, spells, potions, research, and more. Undead plants are different from their living counterparts in surprising ways, but also more responsive to your magic spells. Soon the cycle of life and death will be your plaything!
“We wanted to explore an idle game that really respects players’ time and attention,” says Studio Director Lucas J.W. Johnson, “something that you want to keep running through the day but that’s not constantly demanding your focus. You can set it aside and just enjoy the gothy plants vibing to the music while you work, and not have to worry that they might die—because you can always bring them back!”
Adds Creative Director Claris Cyarron, “Players will have the opportunity to create and tend to a vibrant place of power, reflection, and repose that will support their day. The balcony will be a cozy, nostalgic, and expressive space. The game’s decor style is best described as a mixture of ‘witchcore’ and ‘whimsigoth’ with a healthy dose of ‘grandma chic’ added in there as well.”
The game will feature a robust soundtrack of lofi beats, options to customize your garden, and an ongoing narrative of the co-op apartment building where the game takes place. Silverstring has lots more to reveal over the coming months, and plans to release a public demo later this year.
