It’s that time of year when anticipation for everything Pokémon is skyrocketing. As fans of the franchise likely know, every year on February 27th is Pokémon Day. And with the holiday, you can always expect a Pokémon Presents video to give us all of the good news coming soon. As promised, it’ll be at 6 AM Pacific Time (or 9 AM for those of us on the East Coast).
What can you expect from Pokémon Day and the usual Pokémon Presents?
A lot of times, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company will give a rough time of how long the Pokémon Presents will be for an upcoming video. But, interestingly, they didn’t do that this year.
However, you can likely expect news, even if it’s a small tidbit, this year regarding quite a few Pokémon-related projects.
- Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet
- Pokémon Legends Z-A
- Pokémon Masters EX
- Pokémon GO
- Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket
- Pokémon Trading Card Game Live
- Pokémon Sleep
- Pokémon Horizons: The Series
- Pokémon Concierge
- Pokémon Trading Card Game (the physical TCG)
- And tons of surprises
For those who don’t know, Pokémon Day is a celebration of the original release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in Japan on February 27th, 1996. Seeing as this is the 29th anniversary of Pokémon, we shouldn’t expect too much fanfare just yet. But, it’s possible that we may see initial hints for next year’s 30th anniversary celebration. This also is in consideration that the full Nintendo Switch 2 reveal isn’t for another month or so after this Pokémon Presents.
While nothing is entirely locked down on what will be shown during the event, it’s been recently leaked that we will likely see a new Pokémon Day-themed special mini set in Pokémon TCG Pocket that allegedly will be available the day after, on February 28th. Check out our review for Pokémon TCG Pocket here.
It’s also highly expected that news for Pokémon Legends Z-A will get more information and a release date, as it was announced during last year’s Pokémon Day.
