Sometimes a game just needs to let you do your own thing. MakeRoom is a cozy sandbox that lets you create dioramas of rooms and design them exactly as you want.
No matter if you want to create a really big and spacious living room or a cramped kitchen, MakeRoom has over 1000 objects to decorate and style whatever you want, however you want. Place them how you wish and design your diorama exactly to your liking.
Rooms can also, technically, be outside in MakeRoom, with gardens and camper vans also being mentioned and shown off. Add effects like smoke or steam, earn more objects as you complete objectives and quests, and take pictures to share of your beautiful arrangements.

But, wait, that’s not all! You can create your own furniture with the built-in designer. Once you’ve made a new item to put into your room, you can even put it on Steam Workshop to share your design with the world.
Kenney, while he’s made some games in the past, is actually more well-known among the indie game developer community for designing and providing free assets like fonts, textures, and designs. And they’re all bangers. Seriously, I’ve even used some of his assets (years ago) for various non-Comfy Cozy Gaming projects.
In any case, MakeRoom is adorable and, as someone who likes the build and architect modes of The Sims games over the people part, it’s absolutely the type of cozy game I’m into. So, this entire premise and game excites me.
MakeRoom will be out on Steam on August 7th. You can wishlist the game on Steam now and keep up with Kenney on BlueSky. If you’re into games that involve placing and organizing items, you should also check out our recent article about organizational games that we like!
