No one loves a point and click game more than me. I have fond memories of King’s Quest and Monkey Island. Hell, I even clicked my way around Myst and even though I was too young to figure anything out, the game has left an impression on me.
They’re an old genre, but the formula is still pure gold in the gaming sphere.
As the name suggests, you really do just point and click. Most games are about figuring out how to manipulate your environment with found items. The level of difficulty is on a sliding scale and can tip from stupidly hard to ridiculously easy.
I really do think there’s at least one point and click game for everyone. Maybe one of these three could be your next favorite.

Three Minutes to Eight
Steam tags are adventure, mystery, point and click, and atmospheric.
Let’s start strong with Three Minutes to Eight, a point and click game brought to us by Chaosmonger Studio and Assemble Entertainment.
Three Minutes to Eight is a time-looper situation in essence, but the point and click game isn’t branded that way because each run is distinct. With randomized elements and unique events, you’ll want to play through this game multiple times.
You play a protagonist who is destined to die at precisely 7:57 PM and it’s your job to replay the game multiple times to suss out ways you can change their fate.
The pixel art style is familiar to the point and click game genre while bringing a freshness to it with background animation details.
Unravel the mystery in Three Minutes to Eight and uncover secret paths. You’ll find ways to cheat death by unlocking multiple endings.
Three Minutes to Eight seems like an interesting mind-bending adventure and I’m intrigued to play for myself to see where the story goes. Fortunately, the game is out right now, so we won’t have to wait to check it out!
Click, click, doom!
Luckily for us, they’re running a 20% discount for the game until October 30th. Normally, Three Minutes to Eight retails for $14.99, but for this limited time, you can pick it up for $11.99.
If you’re the type to try before you buy, there’s a demo that you can download of Three Minutes to Eight over on Steam.
A security note for streamers: Three Minutes to Eight has a game feature that will display the city name nearest to the server location linked to your IP. It is not collecting data, but you will want to disable the feature in game options for safety reasons. In disabling this feature, a default city name is used.
Honestly, to me, it seems like a con that the default name isn’t automatically used and instead should give players the option to turn on this feature. They made an effort to note this warning on the Steam page, so I imagine it’s noted in the game as well. In case it isn’t, please try to remember to turn off this feature before going live.
Legends of Castile
Steam tags are adventure, point and click, puzzle, and exploration.
Torrenzo Entertainment brings us Legends of Castile. I mentioned that Three Minutes to Eight brought something fresh to the art of point and click adventures. However, Legends of Castile brings us a more nostalgic design that calls back to my earlier-mentioned examples.
Speaking of the graphics in Legends of Castile, it should be noted that every element is fully hand-drawn, bringing another charming element into this point and click game.
In Legends of Castile, you play as Maria, a young Castilian girl with aspirations to become a nun. Before you can achieve this dream, however, Mother Superior has tasked you with an important mission.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to… play this point and click game.
To prove your worth, you must investigate mythological creatures that have been appearing around Castile and collect an item from each of them. In doing so, you will prove to the abbot the existence of such creatures and set forth a path of restoration.
Legends of Castile boasts an original soundtrack, humor, Spanish folklore, and hundreds of objects to interact with. Best of all, there’s a smooth difficulty curve that is going to keep your game moving and not stalled out on a puzzle.
Personally, I see a lot of nostalgia and charm in Legends of Castile and I’m looking forward to playing it when it comes out. There is currently no release date beyond the vague statement of “2024”. There is, however, a demo that you can download over on Steam to try it out!
Creepy Tale: Some Other Place
Steam tags are adventure, action, point and click, puzzle, and 2D.
Creepy Brothers bring us Creepy Tale: Some Other Place. Steering away from the charming setting of Legends of Castile, this point and click game throws us into a darker atmosphere.
Creepy Tale: Some Other Place puts you on a quest through a fairytale world and has quite a lot of charming things going for it, much like the game before.
Creepy Tale: Some Other Place offers an original soundtrack and 2D hand-drawn art with stop-frame animation. Through the immersive storyline, you’ll experience vivid events and meet interesting characters.
Fall down the proverbial rabbit hole with this point and click adventure.
You’ll experience a wide variety of puzzle mechanics and even get to play mini arcade games. As far as point and click games go, Creepy Tale: Some Other Place is a charming, eerie little game that I’m looking forward to.
There’s no solid release date, but we know the game is coming out sometime in 2024. Unfortunately, there’s no demo at this time for Creepy Tale: Some Other Place, but you can wishlist the game on Steam right now.
Player note: The developers suggest using a Gamepad for the best experience, but I wouldn’t let it put you off the game if you don’t own one. I don’t and it’s not gonna stop me.
