You may now apply to work for the 1st official Ikea store in Roblox

Ikea, a favorite brand for hide-and-seek champions and meatball lovers, is opening up a new experience to give people jobs. If you’re over 18 years old and live in the UK (or the Republic of Ireland), you can apply to work for a digital version of the store. That’s where it gets weird; it’s all inside of Roblox.

You read that right. Ikea is giving gainful and paid employment to ten potential people who want to work digitally in Roblox. Yes, it’s real.

According to the official job listing on The Co-Worker:

“This is not the typical IKEA job. Candidates will be recruited to work inside our newest store, located on the gaming platform Roblox, getting a taste of what careers are like in a real life IKEA.”

They go into detail on what the job entails a little more as well:

“Ten lucky candidates will be selected to work in different sections of the store like the Showroom and Bistro, helping people choose their furniture, serving meatballs, having the chance to win exclusive UGCs and much more.”

The job may be within Roblox and limited to very specific countries, but the pay rate is very real. Depending on your location, you can expect to get £13.15 or €14.80. For those of us in the US, that amounts to either $16.83 or $16.13, depending on which one you’re comparing to.

The small print explains that you need to be at least 18 years of age and live either in the UK or in the Republic of Ireland to qualify. If you happen to check those boxes and need a job, here’s the link to the official The Co-Worker website for Ikea.

While this might seem silly (especially the fact that someone is being paid that much to run a digital bistro and serve meatballs), you can potentially also win some exclusive Ikea-inspired UGCs.
