Brisbane-based indie developer Greenheart Games introduced the world to Game Dev Tycoon in 2013, now they’re back. This time around, their new game, Tavern Keeper, is a business management sim with a fantasy twist.
The Australian developer’s game was given a new trailer during Gamescom 2024 during its Awesome Indies Show. That’s not all, attendees were also lucky enough to get some hands-on time at the Indie Arena Booth.
If you weren’t at Gamescom, though, your luck hasn’t run out to try this game for yourself. There’s always the phenomenal demo available on Steam to get a taste for what’s in store, though, it’s a crafted experience outside of the full game.
The trailer shown gave players more details about the game, specifically when it will hit Steam. As turns out, this is a Steam Early Access game and it’s heading our way in November.
No orcing around in Tavern Keeper
In a press release, Greenheart co-founder Patrick Klug thanked fans for the demo reception, calling it “phenomenal.” He also notes they can’t wait for the journey to officially start in November.
“The reaction to the Demo has been phenomenal and we can’t wait for players to start their tavern keeping journey in November.”
Unlike their previous game, which focused on managing a budding game developer, Tavern Keeper tasks players with running a tavern for “quirky adventurers.” It’s promising not to just be a business management sim, though.
Beyond the detailed management you expect from the genre, it, also, lets you let your creative side out by decorating your very own tavern. It features storybook elements with pop-ups that can help or hinder your tavern’s success.
Tavern Keeper will launch to Steam Early Access on November 5 and, of course, you can Wishlist the game right now on Steam to keep tabs on the game. It’s not clear how much the game will cost while in Early Access, but we have reached out to the developer and will update the article if we get any concrete answers.
