I’ve written about the Aquarium Simulator Fortnite mode in the past, which I absolutely adored for various reasons. But, the newer updates to the game mode have made a few changes since my original article. The good news is things got even better.
The updates added some additional challenges and activities, such as a full parkour section. But, the addition of being able to save and load your progress is a game changer for those who already completed everything and just want to earn some sweet, sweet XP.
In some ways, Chapter 6 and the Aquarium Simulator updates made things both easier and more difficult all at once. But, I’m going to break down exactly how to earn some extra levels each day with this simple trick.
How to earn XP for Battle Pass levels in Fortnite using Aquarium Simulator
Starting off, you need to play the actual mode normally. If you’ve never made an aquarium in Aquarium Simulator before, this involves earning money and having enough guests to unlock all possible purchases. This entire portion of the game should just be the usual progression that unfolds as you play and takes roughly an hour or 2 of real-time hours. Take note of which CLAIM area you choose (yellow or green) at the start of everything as that’ll be important going forward.
Honestly, this entire mode is fun as heck and it’s worth playing either way. Once you complete all purchases around your aquarium, including the additional tanks that came with the newest update, you’re all set to follow these steps.
Normally, you can earn roughly enough XP to get around 7 levels per day in a creative mode like this before the XP dries up. You’ll likely hit that mark during your initial setup, making day 1 just for preparation. But, going forward, everything you just did should be saved and can be loaded when you start up the mode.
Going forward, this guide will assume you’ve done all of your prior prep work.
- Step 1: Go into the Aquarium Simulator mode. Make sure to set it to “private” beforehand. You’ll be happy to do this alone.
- Step 2: Once you are past the Aquarium Simulator title screen, it starts you in the middle section to choose which CLAIM area to claim. Remember which one you chose, yellow or green, as that’ll be the one going forward to head toward. I also remember due to the signage being different heading toward each area.
- Step 3: Once you hit the CLAIM, it’ll prompt you to start a fresh Aquarium or to Load your previous game. Load that previous save.
- Step 4: Immediately head to the gift shop to run it. Running the gift shop earns XP over time. As your avatar can still technically move in that spot if you move your analog stick around, jiggle it some to leave the circle without jumping several times. This helps kickstart some extra multipliers for the XP.
- Step 5: Pay attention to where your XP and the current level is before you begin. This can help you judge how much you earn. Sometimes, it’ll stack and can be easily figured out. However, once it stops, you can’t earn any more XP from gift shops or scientific experiments for this instance. I’m unsure what causes it to stop, but once it’s done, it’s done.
- Step 6: You should earn between 60,000 and 80,000 XP for doing this. As mentioned, once the first bubble pops, you can’t earn anymore this time around.
- Step 7: Rinse and repeat until you stop earning experience for the day. You should get roughly 1 level each time you do it, but that’s not a hard rule. This resets each day.
This takes maybe 4 to 5 minutes per instance of Aquarium Simulator, if not less. It takes longer to exit the mode, go to the lobby, and start another instance of the mode than to actually earn that much experience.
One additional note I should say is that if you haven’t earned that day’s Discovery mission XP, this will also trigger by the end of your first instance to earn a lot of extra XP for your initial term.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I got 14 levels in a single day doing this Aquarium Simulator trick around 15 times. I’m unsure if this works in perpetuity using this tactic, or if it will be patched out during a future update. But, as of posting this, it works very well to earn XP quickly and efficiently without requiring a lot of brain power.
