Let’s be honest, success for Nintendo games is ever fluctuating not only with new titles but with new console releases as well. With the news of Nintendo Switch 2 coming soon, it’ll be no surprise to see this list change drastically.
As of this article, these numbers and figures are pulled from sales made by December 31, 2024, and don’t include any new figures from 2025. Also, this list only includes Super Mario titles. Animal Crossing: New Horizons sits in 2nd place while The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild rests in 4th for the most sold units.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
It’s no surprise that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sits at the top of the most sold Mario game list as it’s a fan favorite. But, it’s not just the Super Mario list. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the best-selling title for Nintendo ever! Since it was released on April 28, 2017, Nintendo has reportedly sold 67.85 million copies!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
It feels virtually impossible not to know about Smash Bros., even if you’re not a fan of fighting games. So, it should be no surprise that the second most-sold Super Mario game is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Since it was released on December 7, 2018, Nintendo has reportedly sold 36.88 million copies!
Super Mario Odyssey
I’m not surprised that Super Mario Odyssey is one of the top 3 most sold Super Mario games. It made it to the number 1 spot on my list of coziest Super Mario games. Since it was released on October 27th, 2017, Nintendo has reportedly sold 29.04 million copies!
